Minimum Wage Rates for 2014/2015 have been adjusted as published in the Botswana Government Gazette, Statutory Instrument No. 60 of 2014, dated 30^th May 2014. The new adjustments take effect from 1^st June 2014

Minimum Wages for agricultural sector is P500 per month
Government has announced new minimum wage rates for employees in various industries and trades for the year 2013/2014 as per Statutory Instrument No. 55 of 2013.
If the working week is 5 days, then the working day may not be more than 9 hours and a period of rest totaling 1-hour should be provided during the day. If the working week is more than 5 days, then the working day may not be more than 8 hours or more than 48 hours in a week. A break of at least 30 minutes must be given after 5 consecutive hours of work.
Employers are advised to adhere to the new policy by ensuring that they do not pay their employees below the stipulated new minimum wage rates.Failure to do so will be violation of Section 1389 of the Employment Act Cap. 47:01. The offence is punishable in terms of Section 151 of the same act.
Despite the revision Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) says the new minimum wage rates do not match living expenses and it proposes a living wage rather than a minimum wage.
