Minimum Wages General in Zambia
Monthly Minimum Wages and Allowances

 

As of January 2011, qualifying employees separated into five main categories are guaranteed following monthly minimum wages and allowances

*There seem to be an anomaly here as the per hour wage sums to a much higher monthly figure than K419, 000 considering the 48 working hours per week.

 

Note:

1.Coverage of Minimum Wages and Conditions of Employment (General) Order 2010/2011 - The order governs wages and conditions of employment for the general worker (note that shopkeepers are governed under a separate Statutory Instrument, No. 1 of 2010).
2.The Minimum Wages and Conditions of Employment Act applies to all employees (including casual workers) in Zambia, but do not apply to the following categories of employees:

• Employees of the Government of the Republic of Zambia
• Employees of local authority
• Employees who undergo collective bargaining (unionized workers)
• Employees in management positions (as defined under the Industrial Relations Act)
• Employees in a sector for which the Minister, by statutory instrument, has prescribed the minimum wage.
